1. Acid attack survivors know the value of true friendship
In their struggle with surgeries and recovery after the attack, acid attack survivors know who are their true friends who will support them and be with them no matter what. Survivors know that sometimes even your closest family members may turn you down, but your true friends never will.
2. They can advice you on true love and the meaning of it
Like MLNS member Rekha, who was allegedly attacked by her husband, most survivors have acid thrown at them by people who say they love them. But survivors know that love is not about possessiveness, suspicions and violence. Love is about understanding, caring and freedom. Spend time with a survivor and you will know what love and relationships are all about.
3. They can lift your spirits when you are down
Acid attack survivors have seen more pain and suffering in their lives than most of us have. They enjoy and cherish every single moment of happiness. When you are feeling down and depressed, trust them to pull you up with their never-say-die spirit. Even amidst their agony and misery, most survivors have witnessed miracles in their lives. And they know the power of prayer.
4. Many of them are inspiring leaders
MLNS Crusader Haseena Hussain - who is an inspiration to all of us - is a winner of the Karnataka State Rani Chennamma Bravery Award and although she is visually impaired, she has a full-time job and actively counsels other survivors. Like Haseena, many survivors are inspiring leaders, working with MLNS and other organisations and helping thousands of other survivors like them.
5. They are truly beautiful people
Acid attack survivors know that true beauty is not about your face, looks or body but about your character and your soul. They know that happiness comes from being good to yourself and to others and knowing and respecting the fact that you are only a very small part of this vast Universe.
